SAP APO (also called SAP SCM) delivers support in Sales Forecasting , Network planning and optimization and Production planning & Detailed scheduling.

More than 2000 companies are using it today, often in combination with SAP BI for the S & OP reporting. One aspect which has been difficult to achieve was the integration with the Financial Planning, and there lies the heart of Integrated Business Planning (IBP). IBP evolved from sales and operations planning (S&OP), and provides a strategy for connecting the planning functions of each department in an organization to align operations and strategy with the organization’s financial performance.

In many cases the integrated business planning architecture is data intensive, distributed, and overly complicated. Instead of helping resolve supply chain complexity and uncertainty, stand-alone planning tools often generate even more questions.

SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) innovation strategy

Previous initiatives to support IBP processes with SAP tools were often unsuccessful, but with the computing and storage power of HANA the right technology became available for a new attempt.

A few years ago the functionality of S & OP on HANA was delivered as a cloud solution, now this is expanded with several additional modules and rebranded to SAP IBP on HANA on IBP.
